A new milestone for Building H!
We’re delighted to announce that Building H has become a project of the Public Health Institute. The Public Health Institute (PHI) has an auspicious 50+-year history of supporting public health leaders and innovators through acting as a fiscal sponsor and incubator of nonprofit efforts to improve public health. Our affiliation with PHI brings us many practical benefits: we can pursue philanthropic grants to support our work, we can sign contracts with partner organizations (enabling us to host interns, for example); and we can now accept tax-deductible contributions. PHI provides us with a top-notch organizational home and back office for our work.
It’s also an opportunity for us to become a part of a network of like-minded, public health innovators. PHI supports programs focused on building healthier communities, nutrition and wellness, sustainable food systems, the role of media in health and so many more. It’s an honor to join this group and we’re excited to get to know our new colleagues.
The affiliation with PHI is a real milestone for us at Building H. For the past two years, we have been a volunteer-driven effort. Thomas and Steve have been joined by wonderful collaborators like Sara Singer, Ramesh Jain, Brittany Sigler, Samir Khanna, Albert Browne, and Matt Trowbridge. Dozens of others have lifted up our work with amplification, introductions and sometimes just plain encouragement. And we’re on the verge of releasing a new version of the Building H Index, powered by the participation of nearly 80 volunteers (including many of you). Starting this new chapter with PHI marks what we expect will be a transition out of our toddler years and into something more stable, more robust and more impactful. We couldn't be more excited.
